Shockwave therapy provides a breakthrough in physiotherapy modalities for increased blood flow and tissue repair.  The research continues to grow in favor of this safe and effective therapy.  This has been one of our favorite tools to help patients get out of pain, increase circulation, and accelerate recovery from injuries.  The Idaho Center for Integrative Medicine is one of the only clinics in the state to offer true FOCUSED shockwave therapy.  This allows us to treat conditions much faster, and tissues much deeper.   This is an excellent option for our needle-phobic patients who want to use regenerative medicine, but are afraid of needles.

While some conditions may respond to Shockwave therapy alone, we get our best results when combining it with regenerative injections like Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP), and Prolozone.  Shockwave therapy can help a variety of conditions, including, but not limited to:

Rotator Cuff Tears

Scars + Aesthetics

Carpal Tunnel Syndrome

Peripheral Neuropathy

Diabetic ulcer wounds

Non-union fractures

Tennis & Golfers Elbow

Low Back Pain (Sciatica)

Erectile Dysfunction

Knee pain and arthritis

Hip pain and arthritis

Buyer Beware -most clinics out there are claiming to have "shockwave" in order to benefit from the rising body of medical literature supporting its use, but they actually have the less expensive (and less effective) Radial Pressure Wave systems. Radial Pulsewave is often louder and more painful - often requiring a numbing cream. Here is an excellent video explaining the differences -

Some ways you can tell if you are receiving a legit shockwave treatment are to look at the device itself.  Radial devices typically have a long neck with a small tip about the size of a quarter, while Focused Shockwave has a broad applicator about the size of a baseball.  You can ask your provider if this device is "Radial" or "Focused".   Below are examples of each:
