Mary Johnson headshotMy name is Mary Johnson, and I am the owner of Inspire Functional Rehabilitation and Fitness, PLLC. I am a licensed physical therapist and a 2003 graduate of Samuel Merritt University’s Master of Physical Therapy Program. In 2022, amidst the global pause, I launched a private physical therapy practice offering rehabilitative treatment, restorative and preventative fitness, and wellness services to clients in a private home clinic and fitness studio. As my practice has expanded, I am excited to now be offering these services at Idaho Center for Integrative Medicine. I have known Dr. Noah Edvalson for 5 years and have had the privilege of consulting with him on the holistic and functional medicine approach to health and injury management, and believe that we can provide a truly integrative approach to patient care.

I have been in practice for 20 years, previously as a California licensed physical therapist primarily treating outpatient general, neurologic and orthopedic patients in a hospital clinic, as well as home health, acute rehabilitation, transitional care, and private outpatient orthopedic clinics. Like Dr. Noah, I have experienced miracles, as well as the good, bad and ugly in the modern healthcare system, and have committed my career to providing the best care possible, using cutting edge, guided manual therapy, corrective exercise, and healing modalities. Also like Dr. Noah, I am a glutton for continuing education and research, inspired by my most challenging patients.

During the past 8 years, I have immersed myself in over 600 hours of live continuing education courses through the Herman & Wallace Pelvic Rehabilitation Institute, as well as many additional hours of online education n pelvic health through The Integrative Women’s Health Institute, Pelvic Global Academy, and Core Exercise Solutions. Most recently, I have received 100 hours in training through Herman & Wallace and the American Academy of Manual Therapy in the use of dry needling techniques to treat neuromusculoskeletal dysfunctions, and pelvic health conditions such as pelvic pain and dyspareunia, pelvic muscle atrophy, incontinence, erectile dysfunction, prenatal and pre-surgical outcome optimization, post-partum and post-surgical recovery, and more. I received a Certificate in Dry Needling from AAMPT, and am certified in the State of Idaho as a PT-DN. A native of California and daughter of a large animal veterinarian and educator, I was raised in the small agricultural town of Escalon. I am a former NCAA Division I athlete, having competed in women's volleyball at the University of Arizona from 1989-1993. I received my Bachelor’s Degree in Exercises and Sport Science, with a minor in Psychology, from the University of Arizona in 1994, graduated Summa Cum Laude from De Anza College with an Associate of Science Degree, Physical Therapy Assistant in 1997, and practiced for 5 years as a physical therapy assistant until returning for my Master of Physical Therapy. In 2020 I relocated my family to Meridian, Idaho, to continue raising them in a healthier environment. I enjoy hiking, skiing and staying fit, with my two beautiful children, one who is training in advanced ballet, and the other pursuing the sport of volleyball. I am also a cancer widow, having lost my husband of 25 years to a battle with incurable cancer. These life experiences have guided my professional development to include a broad range of skill and knowledge, as well as humility. I am honored to serve clients of all ages, with simple orthopedic issues, to the most complex challenges for which I have the skill set to treat.
