Cold Laser - Low Level Laser Therapy “Men ask in their prayers for health from the gods, but do not know that the power to attain this lies in themselves.” ~ Democritus, 400 B.C. Cold laser therapy is also called “low-level laser therapy” and has become a very popular treatment with athletes because it has been found to be useful in speeding the healing process with injuries. Here in our office, we utilize the FDA cleared device: MR4 by TerraQuant. This machine delivers a super pulsed laser that can vary the depth and is considered by some to be the world's most advanced pain relieving modality. What is Cold Laser? What is Cold Laser? Cold Laser Therapy or Low Level Laser Therapy (LLLT) utilizes specific wavelengths of light used to penetrate between 2-5 centimeters below the skin to allow interaction with tissue resulting in promotion and acceleration of the healing process. The laser is a handheld device, often the size of a flash light, used by a clinician to treat the injured or painful area(s). The Cold Laser is placed directly over the injured area for anywhere from 30 seconds to 5 minutes, depending on the size of the area. The non-thermal photons emitted from the laser help eliminate pain, swelling, reduce muscle spasm, and increase functionality. This process can be compared to photosynthesis in plants – the absorption of light, converted to energy allowing the plant to grow. What can Cold Laser help with? What can Cold Laser help with?
